Billy is a school leader with six years of experience (Teach First PGDE). Working as Reading Lead at Ark Pioneer, an 'Outstanding' rated school, his leadership of literacy drove engagement and reading progress. OFSTED endorsed Billy's work as a coach in their report that literacy teachers provide weaker readers with 'expert help to catch up' (staff Billy coached for the year prior to the inspection). While working as an English Teacher at another comprehensive academy, he launched a programme for A-Level students to gain admission to Russell Group universities by enriching their personal statements with authentic reading experiences. Prior to becoming a teacher, Billy graduated with a Masters degree in English Literature from UCL and a first class undergraduate degree in English and Comparative Literature from Warwick.
